Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Su Ricks and I am a Holistic Therapist specialising in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Reflexology. Please click on my photo to find out more about me. I work from my home-based practice in the charming Daventry village of Charwelton in Northamptonshire, and from May 08 from the Abbey Centre in Daventry Town Centre. I am located very close to the Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire borders on the A361 between Banbury and Daventry in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside. Below is a list of frequently asked questions about hypnosis and reflexology which you may find helpful when considering whether hypnosis or reflexology may help you with your goals. Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotists, Hypnosis and HypnotherapyWhat is hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy or Hypnosis is a completely natural process of using deep relaxation to allow you to make changes in how you deal with habits, feelings and situations. It can help with confidence, reduce anxiety and help with personal goals such as stopping smoking, losing weight and being able to cope better in difficult situations. What is the difference between a hypnotist and a hypnotherapist? Hypnosis is the state of relaxation or trance that can be achieved by various methods - hypnotherapy is simply using hypnosis in a therapeutic manner. So a hypnotherapist is a hypnotist, but they use hypnosis to help clients achieve their goals, often learning the hypnosis technique for themselves in the process. Will I lose control during the hypnosis treatment? Absolutely not! Whilst in hypnosis you are in full control and cannot be made to think, feel or do anything which you would not do under normal circumstances. Remember I am a therapeutic hypnotherapist and do not participate in stage hypnotism - the purpose of our sessions together is to empower you, not to control or entertain. What does hypnosis feel like? Most people just feel really relaxed whilst in hypnosis. Natural hypnosis is achieved by most people everyday in situations where they drift off or day dream. Any time you notice that time is running away really quickly or dragging is a sign that you have been in natural hypnosis. Will hypnosis / hypnotherapy work for me? Hypnotherapy / hypnosis works for many people, who need help with a variety of issues including help to stop smoking, lose weight, reduce anxiety and stress, gain confidence or deal with fear or phobia. What qualifications do hypnotherapists need to practice in the UK? At this point in time hypnotherapists are not regulated in the UK - there is no Hypnosis UK - wide organisation that governs standards - that said The NCH, which is part of UKCHO is working towards regulation in line with the National Occupational Standards - I hope this happens soon, so that the public will be reassured and safe in the hands of only well qualified therapists. Definitions of my hypnotherapy qualifications can be viewed here. PNLP stands for Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming and MAR stands for Member of the Association of Reflexologists Frequently Asked Questions About ReflexologyWhat is reflexology? Reflexology is an extremely effective pressure point therapy applied to the feet or hands. It works by inducing deep relaxation, and restoring balance to the body's systems, which some believe, can trigger healing responses and the correction of imbalances which have lead to disease and illness. Are there any reasons not to have reflexology? Most people can benefit from reflexology - the relaxation alone is very therapeutic. However reflexology is not suitable for anyone who has internal bleeding from a recent operation or other source, deep vein thrombosis or is in the first trimester of pregnancy. What is the healing response or healing crisis? Most people simply feel wonderfully relaxed following reflexology, however some people will experience a healing response. This is when you feel worse before you start to feel better and can take the form of heightened emotion, cold like symptoms, tiredness etc. It is important to remember that reflexology is designed to help the body, mind and spirit re-balance - so it is important to listen to what the body is telling you to do and act respond accordingly. Sometimes, it's telling you to lie on the couch under a blanket, or have a good cry, whatever response you get, it's the one you need. Do you provide home visits? Yes, I am happy to provide home visits for reflexology in the Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire area, although I do charge for the additional time taken at my hourly rate of £30 or £7.50 per additional 15 minutes.
