Clinical Supervision - HypnotherapyWhat is supervision?
Supervision is a professional,
confidential partnership between the supervisor and supervisee. It is designed
to support and develop the skills, knowledge and experience of the supervisee in
order to maximise the efficacy of the therapeutic relationship for the
supervisee’s clients. A key function of the relationship is to ensure ethical
and safe practice, whilst promoting an environment supportive of growth and
development for the supervisee.
This is achieved by regular discussion,
which focuses on;
-
Providing an opportunity to discuss client cases and
other issues which may impact on the ability of the therapist to meet the
needs of their clients.
-
Sharing responsibility for ensuring safe and ethical
practice in relation to therapeutic practice.
-
Sharing responsibility for the ongoing development of
skills, knowledge and understanding in therapeutic practice.
My approach
My approach to supervision is based on
the humanistic principles I employ as a therapist in my own therapeutic
practice. I firmly believe that every individual has all the resources they
need to be able to be successful, empowered and content – sometimes though, they
just need some help to find and utilise them appropriately.
I am happy to discuss my approach in a
preliminary discussion with any therapist seeking supervisory support either in
person, or by telephone, for which no charge is made.
I work in an anti-discriminatory
manner, respecting the rights of all individuals regardless of gender,
ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or belief systems, and endeavour to
demonstrate this commitment as part of the supervisory process.
General Information
I prefer to meet all supervisees in
person for the initial supervision session, although if geographical issues are
prohibitive, this can be carried out by telephone, or video link.
The duration of each session is 50 minutes, and can be conducted in person, by telephone, skype or video
link.
The frequency of supervisory sessions
will vary depending on the volume of clients supervisees are seeing and their
level of experience and you will need to ensure that you are working within the
bounds of the code of ethics of your professional body, as requirements differ.
I may ask you for a copy of your body's code.
Supervisees
are welcome to make contact via email, skype or telephone if issues arise for
which they need additional support between the scheduled sessions. In general
terms, supervisees should plan to discuss any concerns or issues within the
scheduled sessions wherever possible.
Supervisees must adhere to the code of
ethics of their professional body, and should provide a copy of this upon
request.
The supervision contract is subject to
bi-annual review, enabling assessment of progress made and objective setting for
the future.
I personally undertake supervision with
a fully qualified clinical supervisor.
Fees
Face to face sessions are £30 for a 50
minute hour starting Monday-Friday 9am-4pm and £40 for weekday appointments
starting after 5pm and weekends, plus
expenses incurred if travel is required or a special room needs to be booked.
Cancellation of sessions requires 24
HOURS NOTICE.
Supervisees pay for each session by
cash, cheque, paypal or standing order and the full fee is payable on completion
of each session. Failure to keep appointments may lead to a request for
pre-payment of subsequent sessions.
Confidentiality
All information disclosed to me remains
confidential within the bounds of legal requirements, the codes of ethics of my
supervisee’s professional body, and the codes of ethics of the NCH, NGH and UKCP.
Where a professional disagreement
concerning client welfare cannot be resolved, I consult with my supervisor and
where appropriate the relevant organisation such as the employer or professional
body and I reserve the right to make this contact.
Issues of safety relating to the client,
the therapist or any other individuals concerned are given primary importance,
over and above issues of confidentiality.
